This incredible age group are absorbing something new every day! KidsCo Jr. will create an awesome environment to nurture a twos innate love of exploration and learning. We will link curriculum to meaningful experiences within their worlds such as pets, foods, and family. We believe that by providing both child directed and teacher directed emergent experiences, two year olds expand their language, physical ability, social skills, and build a healthy positive self-image. Their desire for independence will be respected and supported by creating opportunities for success and through intentional teaching. We teach by the modeling of appropriate hygiene, caring for others, value of friendships, and the concentration on impulse control and positive choices to shape personal discipline. A 1:6 staff to child ratio or better will be maintained.

A two year old is observing, imitating, absorbing, and gaining knowledge with each experience! In addition, their drive to make personal decisions and to learn self-sufficiency is very strong! Our schedule is flexible, allowing opportunity for uninterrupted play and an environment conducive to emergent themes and discussions. Additionally, this flexibility permits these kids a ‘learning curve’ on preparing for transitions and practicing Life Learning.
In a two year olds world, everything is a challenge! We will concentrate on creating scaffolding for success in learning everyday life skills. Putting on clothing, toilet training, exhibiting grace and manners, buttoning, zipping, washing hands, meal etiquette, and social cooperation are some of the talents we will incorporate throughout our entire day!

During circle time, children are encouraged to join, listen, and participate. Our circle time gives children an opportunity learn favorite songs, interact with all team members and enjoy positive group interactions. It includes songs, chants, finger plays, poetry, sign language, puppet shows, storytelling, flannel boards, show & tell, props, music, and movement.
Gaining strength, coordination, and confidence are the focus of this time. Rolling, jumping, following movements, music dancing, following beats, trampoline time, as well as interactive group games will be enjoyed. Texture Time
Creativity and wonder are the joys of childhood! We will explore textures and sensory mediums by playing with water tables, bean boxes, play dough, finger paint. We will identify & match textures and explore the blending of materials to create new feels!
Children of this age are drawn to nature! Our nook will be devoted to bringing seasonal items indoors to study and observe. Tree bark, snake skins, bird nests, stones, flower petals, shells, insects, fur, naturally occurring colors and patterns will all be found here. We will ask open ended questions about our surrounding world and create a habitat for hands on learning!
At the heart of a young child’s world is their imagination! In this space, materials will be available to grab the attention of an avid imaginer and broaden their ability to conceive the unknown. This area will not be static; it will change and grow with their interests. We will explore a zoo, kitchen, car, restaurant, stage, dentist office, pet store, market and more!
Dexterity, concentration, and self esteem are strengthened by using blocks and manipulatives , playing with puzzles and small toys, working with counters and matching, as well as having fun with crafts and projects.
Craftastic is a time for children to explore process art using unstructured materials that are used to create masterpieces. No two projects will have the same outcome. Children are allowed to freely express their own individual creativity.

Everyday , the world around us is changing. At KidsCo Jr. we will enjoy walks, wagon rides, nature hunts, outdoor games, kites and bubbles, tricycles and playground fun! During outdoor play, we allow children to take safe risks and experience nature. We will bring the inside out at every available opportunity to experience our familiar items in a new way!
It’s never too early be interested in reading! A comfy carpet and cushions will allow kids to relax and enjoy story time, puppets, sing- alongs, rhyme time, and musical instruments will all assist with sound, shape, letter, and color recognition.
One of the most important elements to a young child’s day is their quiet time. Everyone needs to be recharged in order to enjoy all of our activities! We will have a soothing environment for naps and quiet rest. Cozy snoozers (cots) will be available for each child as well as quiet, individual activities they may concentrate on upon waking. |
