Where is the center?
We are based on the property of Lois P. Rockwell Elementary School in Damascus, MD. Our Junior Babies are within the school building where we have transformed a typical Kindergarten room into an amazing space for our youngest children! Our Early Pre and Preschool children have customized rooms in a newly constructed building right outside of the school! For all classes, new, exciting equipment and supplies create the ideal rooms for the children.

What are the operating hours?
We have many plans to accommodate the needs of our families! We have 5 Day, 3 Day & 2 Day plans that run from 9:00-3:00 as well as Extended Options in the morning (7:00-9:00) and in the afternoon (3:00-6:00). Our youngest group, Junior Babies, has only a full time option Mon-Fri 7:00am – 6:00pm.

Can I enroll for part-time care?
Yes! In addition to the plans outlined above, we offer a Half Day Preschool from 9:00-12:00. Many of our families are able to customize the plan to best suit their needs by combining one of our Day Plans with an Extended Option.

What are the ages of the children enrolled?
Our Rockwell Center will accept children as young as 6 weeks through Pre K. We will have two Junior Baby groups, one Playful Preschool, one Early Preschool class, and two Preschool classes.

How many staff will be with my child’s class?
Each specific age group has separate regulations detailing how many staff per child should be in a class. KidsCo Jr. maintains these ratios or better! For infants & toddlers the ratio is one team member for three children. Twos require one staff member for every six children. Preschool maintains a one to ten staff to child ratio.

Who will be working with my child?
Each of our team members is considered our most valuable resource and has been hand chosen to work with our families’ children. We pride ourselves on our exceptional staff as they truly make KidsCo Jr. a great place to be. Also, we boast an exceptionally low turnover rate and place consistency as a priority in all of our centers. As part of our continued dedication to raise the bar, we compensate our staff members at well above the average rate within Montgomery County. All team members are valued, appreciated, and encouraged to have input into the program which fosters a sense of ownership. We are continually striving to create a fun and rewarding place for our staff to call home!

What types of measures are there to keep my child safe?
KidsCo Jr. has many procedures in place to ensure the safety of everyone on site. Safety measures include monthly fire drills, CPR & First Aid training for ALL staff, identification policy for guests to pick up a child, emergency preparation, and secure entries.

Can I be involved in my child’s day?
Absolutely! We boast an open door policy that invites all parents of enrolled children to drop by anytime. Volunteers are also welcome. We are excited about the activities that we do each day and love to share. Parents should expect a monthly newsletter, many planned get-togethers, two Open Houses, a daily log sheet of all your child’s activities, and a parent area with daily lists of what we explored that day. Additionally, we have an invitation-only, web based photo sharing program in place so families can see our daily fun!
